Overview
CTG is seeking to fill a Hardware Test Specialist opening for our client in Poughkeepsie, NY.
Location: Poughkeepsie, NY
Duration: Ongoing Contract
Duties:

Participate in the testing of large mainframe servers within the System Z Engineering System Test organization.

Perform hands-on hardware verification, system operations, and functional test activities.

Run diagnostic programs, apply system configuration changes, and execute functional test procedures.

Identify, troubleshoot, and document hardware/software defects.

Collect and analyze test data to ensure system reliability and performance.

Work collaboratively within one of several verification squads, each focusing on specific functional areas.

Contribute to defect identification, resolution, and automation of test processes.
Skills:
-
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach to hardware and system issues.

Effective team player with the ability to work independently and learn new technologies.

Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.

Familiarity with test automation and scripting.
-
Competence in Linux and Windows environments.
-
Knowledge of IBM System Z or mainframe systems is highly preferred.
Experience:
-
Experience in a hardware or system test environment, preferably with enterprise-level servers or mainframes.

Background in system configuration, test execution, and defect management.
-
Experience with automation tools and scripting languages is a plus.
Education:
-
Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent work experience.
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
