The Guild provides comprehensive social services and programs to support more than 16,000 individuals annually.


POSITION OVERVIEW: Under the supervision of the Deputy Executive Director, the Senior Manager of Community Building will develop and implement an integrated, well-designed strategy that promotes the organization and its programs and services to the community. This position will successfully establish partnerships with other community-based organizations, community leaders, and community and political groups. In this highly visible role, the Senior Manager will serve as an organizational ambassador within the community at large. They will manage internal and external relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work to understand the needs of the Guilds program participants and the local community, and develop and implement programs and large- and small-scale events that align with the Guilds mission to meet those needs and promote the Guild services
  • Represent Hudson Guild in the community including attending Tenant Association meetings, Community Board meetings and events, and other gatherings in Chelsea and on the west side of Manhattan. Maintain Hudson Guild as a visible presence and thought leader in the community
  • Build partnerships with community-based organizations and strengthen existing relationships.
  • Monitor, identify, and analyze legislative & policy issues and trends that impact the work of Hudson Guild; lead community involvement efforts (e.g. Participatory Budget, voter registration, voter pledge)
  • Collaborate with other Hudson Guild departments and external organizations to build a pipeline of new participants and resources for our programs and to define how community building and advocacy can be integrated to augment and amplify existing programs
  • Host forums that allow for a robust exchange of ideas about key issues facing the community in collaboration with organizations leadership.
  • Oversee administration of the West Side Community Fund, a consortium of companies on the West Side of Manhattan that support neighborhood initiatives through a small independent grants program
  • Oversee Emergency Cash program for participants as available
  • Engage in ongoing Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) to track and evaluate program data, determine strengths and areas for improvement and execute action steps to make improvements
  • Supervise Community Building team, including a Senior Associate and a Program Development Officer
  • Other related duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience building coalitions within communities, helping diverse groups of people identify and work toward common goals;
  • Minimum of 3 years experience leading groups and managing people.
  • High energy, community focused individualExperience building and implementing programs with input from multiple stakeholders
  • Extraordinary people and communication skills both oral and written
  • Highly organized with strong event planning and implementation abilities
  • Comfort with public speaking or a willingness to develop in this area
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Bilingual in Spanish or mandarin preferred but not required
