Kitchen Steward

As a Kitchen Steward, you will use both manual and machine dishwashing methods to ensure the cleanliness and sanitization of dishes, tableware, glassware, pots, pans, and utensils. Kitchen Stewards must also maintain a clean and safe workspace in the immediate and culinary areas. They ensure that all garbage is removed and placed in an appropriate location for disposal; clean, sweep, mop, wipe down all equipment including fryers and hoods. And clean and sanitize restrooms in restaurant areas

Job Description

  • Cleaning dishes, plates, bowls, silverware, pots, glasses, and pans, etc. using both manual and machines dishwashing
  • Ensure proper chemical dilution and water temperature
  • Removal of trash, waste and debris to designated areas
  • Regularly wipe down and clean, walls and floors, as well as washing work areas, refrigerators, and kitchen equipment
  • Putting together, maintaining, and dismantling the dish machine
  • Dishes and utensils should be scraped, rinsed, and loaded into the dishwasher
  • All cookware, utensils, and dishes should be washed and sanitized
  • The dishwasher should be cleaned, sanitized, and kept in good working order; immediately reporting any deficiencies
  • Ensure ample tools, supplies and equipment, including chemicals are on hand
  • Ensure the floor around the dishwasher is always clean, free from excess water and objects
  • All dishware, glassware and utensils should be unloaded and carefully organized and returned to respective locations
  • Read and effectively interpret BEO/REO needed supplies
  • Ensure all tasks are completed and areas is properly prepared for the next shift. If any work is to be left, you must communicate with next shift.
  • Sweep, mop and maintain all kitchen/culinary areas regularly
  • Actively participate in weekly general cleaning duties
  • As needed, perform additional cleaning duties

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Experience in restaurants
  • Food handler certification card preferred
  • Prior experience in a high volume restaurant/hotel preferred
  • Must be able to stand for an 8-hour shift
  • Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds
  • Bending, climbing, reaching, stooping, and moving fast without discomfort
  • Must be able to work on nights, weekends, and holidays
