Overview

CTG's long-standing Fortune 500 client of over 15 years has a W2 contract assignment for an IT Desktop Support role.

Type: Contract
Job Title: IT Desktop Support
Location: Fairport, NY
Candidates must be able to commute and work onsite in Fairport, NY
Pay Rate: Based on experience
Work Hours: M-F 8am-5pm
Education: Associate degree preferred, HS Diploma or GED required

Description
The IT Desktop Support Technician (Field Services) will provide technical assistance and support for service requests and incidents related to hardware, software, and infrastructure at a manufacturing facility in Corning, NY. This includes both in-person and occasional remote support. This role may require availability for on-call 24/7 coverage. The technician must demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft operating systems and Office applications, as well as the ability to troubleshoot and support a wide range of desktop technologies and services.

Requirements
• Provide on-site and remote desktop support in a fast-paced environment
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues
• Image and deploy Windows PCs, manage hardware lifecycle, and handle asset inventory
• Support Active Directory, Cisco VPN, printers, and MS Office suites
• Assist in meeting support including A/V and conference room technology
• Perform Smart Hands tasks such as hardware installations, cable management, and vendor escort
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and participate in IT projects
• Provide onboarding and end-user training when needed
• Maintain accurate documentation of incidents, solutions, and procedures

Required Qualifications

Education
• Associate degree (preferred) or HS Diploma/GED with relevant technical experience

Qualifications
• 1–3 years of experience with hardware support (beyond imaging/deployment)
• Familiarity with Active Directory, VPN, and cloud-based applications
• Ability to troubleshoot a variety of software and hardware problems
• Experience with Windows 7/10/11 and Microsoft Office (2010–O365)
• Working knowledge of ServiceNow or similar ticketing systems
• Strong customer service skills and the ability to prioritize tasks
• Some experience supporting Mac OS is a plus
• Willingness to travel occasionally for site support or events

• CompTIA Server+
