Location: Manhattan, NY 10004
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Duration: 14-Week Contract

Job Summary

A healthcare organization in New York City is seeking an experienced Healthcare Payroll Specialist to support payroll and timekeeping operations within a hospital or clinical environment. This role requires hands-on experience with payroll processing, timekeeping systems, garnishments, tax handling, and compliance in a highly regulated setting. The specialist will play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll for healthcare employees while maintaining strict confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

• Process payroll for both hourly and salaried healthcare employees

• Manage timekeeping data, including retroactive pay calculations and time adjustments

• Enter, track, and process wage garnishments, payroll taxes, and deductions

• Review payroll transfer reports and validate benefit deductions

• Perform payroll audits to ensure accuracy, compliance, and data integrity

• Maintain payroll records and documentation within payroll and HR systems

• Assist leadership with payroll, accounting, and reporting projects as needed

• Work across multiple systems simultaneously while safeguarding sensitive information

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of two (2) years of payroll and timekeeping experience, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting

• Strong experience with payroll garnishments, tax processing, and year-end payroll activities

• Proven analytical skills, including retro pay and time correction calculations

• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

• High School Diploma or GED required

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred

• Experience with payroll systems such as QuickBooks, Pay Choice, or Payroll Associates

• Prior experience supporting payroll operations in a hospital or healthcare environment
