Position Summary:
The Foundation has an exciting learning opportunity available for a Research Impact & Data Analytics Intern. This is an opportunity to work within a leading non-profit organization to gain firsthand knowledge of research operations, administration and reporting that helps an organization accomplish its mission. We are seeking an intern to help us enhance our research impact efforts, especially around data analytics.
The Research Impact & Data Analytics Intern will play a key role in strengthening our nonprofit research impact efforts through data-driven analysis, reporting, and evaluation. This position will help transform raw grant data into actionable insights through the collection, management, and analysis of data to enhance research program effectiveness, inform strategic decisions, and communicate our impact to stakeholders. The ideal candidate is passionate about using data, detail-oriented, and eager to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit research and analytics.
The main responsibility is to support the Research Impact team to design, build, and implement a dashboard that tracks key performance indicators (KPIs) related to our grantmaking processes. The intern will also help with other impact-related efforts, such as conducting web-based research of secondary data and conducting literature reviews.
This is a 12-week remote internship (September 2 – November 20) paying $20/hour for approximately 10 hours/week.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Dashboard Development: Design and build interactive KPI dashboards using grant management system to visualize grants management data. Test the dashboard for accuracy, usability, and performance.
- Data Analysis: Collect, clean, and analyze data from the grants management system as needed for reporting.
- Collaboration: Work with Grants Management and Impact staff to understand reporting needs and ensure the dashboard meets user requirements. Help identify relevant KPIs (e.g., application volume, approval rates, research outputs, etc.).
- Documentation: Create clear documentation and user guides for the dashboard to support ongoing use and maintenance.
- Web-based research: As needed, conduct web-based research of secondary data to gather benchmark data related to inflammatory bowel disease patient-reported outcomes (e.g., quality of life) and summarize findings.
- Literature review: As needed, conduct a literature review of existing publications on priority topics and summarize findings.
- Presentation: Present findings and dashboard prototypes to internal teams and incorporate feedback for continuous improvement.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in data analytics, statistics, sciences, or a related field
- Experience with data entry, management, and analytics tools (e.g., Excel, PowerBI, Tableau)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Ability to synthesize information and present findings clearly to diverse audiences
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with data visualization and reporting is a plus
- Interest or experience in nonprofit, research, or program impact evaluation work
