Job DescriptionHR Works is excited to assist our client located in Buffalo, NY with their search for a Director of Human Resources and DEI. This position provides strategic leadership and hands-on execution of all HR and DEI functions for the organization. This includes talent acquisition, employee relations, compliance, performance management, and organizational development. This role is also responsible for building scalable systems, modernizing HR infrastructure, and partnering with leadership to align HR and DEI strategies with the organization's mission and long-term goals.
Essential Functions:
- Provide strategic leadership serving as a trusted advisor to the Executive Director and leadership team on all HR matters
- Manage employee relations and compliance for a unionized workforce
- Oversee policy development & process standardization
- Lead talent acquisition & onboarding initiatives for organization ensuring efficient, equitable, and timely hiring
- Implement consistent performance management process and build a foundation for ongoing employee learning, compliance training, and leadership development
- Oversee HRIS systems including accuracy of data and reporting
- Plan and execute HR and DEI initiatives and system implementations
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- 7–10 years of progressive HR experience, with 3+ years in a leadership role.
- Experience managing HR & DEI in unionized and/or nonprofit environments.
- Experience implementing and optimizing HR systems preferred
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred

Compensation Range and Modality:
- $110,000 to $115,000 annually
