Role: Senior Cost Accounting Manager
A leading industrial manufacturer in Melville is seeking a Senior Cost Accounting Manager to take ownership of cost structure analysis, inventory valuation, and operational finance leadership. This role is ideal for a finance professional who thrives in a production-driven environment and enjoys partnering with cross-functional teams to drive profitability and performance.
What You’ll Be Responsible For:

Lead the development and maintenance of product costing models, including standard cost updates and variance tracking.

Analyze plant-level financial performance, including labor efficiency, overhead absorption, and material usage.

Collaborate with operations, supply chain, and engineering to align financial insights with production goals.

Manage inventory accounting processes, including reserve analysis, cycle count adjustments, and reconciliation.

Provide cost data to support pricing strategies, margin analysis, and new product introductions.

Prepare monthly reporting packages with detailed commentary on cost drivers and trends.

Partner with procurement to evaluate vendor performance and purchase price variance (PPV).

Support budgeting and forecasting processes with a focus on cost behavior and manufacturing KPIs.

Lead and mentor a small team of analysts and site-level finance partners.

Drive continuous improvement in cost reporting, systems, and internal controls.
What You Bring:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Master’s or MBA preferred.

10+ years of progressive experience in cost accounting or plant finance within a manufacturing setting.

Strong command of standard costing, inventory valuation, and variance analysis.

Experience working across multiple sites or business units is a plus.

Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel modeling.

Ability to communicate financial concepts clearly to non-finance stakeholders.

A proactive, hands-on approach with a passion for operational excellence.
