The Lymphoma Research Foundation seeks a career-minded professional to join the team as a Development Operations Manager to support the Development Department.
Located in New York City, the Lymphoma Research Foundation is the nation’s largest non-profit organization devoted to funding innovative research and serving the lymphoma community through a comprehensive series of education programs, outreach initiatives, and patient services. About the Foundation
The Lymphoma Research Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for lymphoma, the most common form of blood cancer, by funding biomedical research and supporting the next generation of lymphoma researchers. With the guidance of the Foundation’s prestigious Scientific Advisory Board (SAB), which is comprised of 45 of the world’s leading lymphoma experts, the Foundation invests in the research and scientists which have the greatest potential to improve our understanding of lymphomas and lead to improved treatment options for patients. To date, the Foundation has funded more than $82.7 million in research focused on the origins and treatment of lymphoma.
Through comprehensive disease guides and publications, in-person conferences, and online resources, the Foundation provides education for people with lymphoma, as well as their loved ones and caregivers. About the Opportunity
Based in New York City, the Development Operations Manager position will report to the Associate Director of Development; please note that the organization utilizes a flex schedule, and this role is required to work in the office Monday-Thursday; they may elect to work remotely Fridays. The salary range for this exempt position is $60,000-$65,000 annually, based on applicable skills and experience.
The ideal candidate for this position will be a detail-oriented professional with 2-3 years of experience in gift processing and CRM/database administration. They'll be someone who genuinely appreciates the importance of accurate data and takes pride in managing data.
This organized self-starter should be able to confidently manage multiple complex processes simultaneously while adhering to strict deadlines. They will be effective working independently but comfortable communicating regularly with management and providing customer service to donors and constituents when needed. They should be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, with strength in Microsoft Excel. The ideal candidate will have experience using Raiser’s Edge (including NXT). They will be a natural problem-solver who proactively researches solutions to challenges and identifies new opportunities for the Foundation yet knows the value of leveraging the experience of those around them.
Responsibilities
Development Operations/Gift Processing
• Process donations received directly onsite, online, or via third-party channels (e.g. workplace giving, donor advised funds, etc.).
• Ensure gifts are properly classified in the current CRM, including the addition of gift solicitor, soft credits, and other information vital for donor recognition and stewardship.
• Manage recurring mailing processes related to donor acknowledgment, tributes, giving societies, etc.
• Facilitate Development Department requests for data lists, mass uploads, and record creation as necessary, and in partnership with outside vendors, as necessary.
• Manage data workflows utilizing the Membership Module in Raiser’s Edge related to the Foundation’s multiple giving societies.
• Identify and implement best practices for ongoing data hygiene.
• Manage data workflows utilizing the Volunteer Module in Raiser’s Edge related to the Foundation’s Volunteer Network.
• Maintain and promote database best practices in conjunction with Development colleagues, including the regular review and upkeep of the database user manual.
• In partnership and coordination with Finance, participate in monthly reconciliation processes.
• Maintain and routinely deliver reports to Development Department colleagues related to gift entry and other updates.
Prospect Research and Management
• Assist with data workflows and automations related to major gift prospect identification and classification.
• Manage workflows for necessary actions to be taken with identified prospects by Development Department colleagues.
• Assist in additional prospect research regarding missing contact information.
Individual Giving Support
• Administrative support of the Development Department including management of Development Department email inbox and phone line, and Foundation Requests email inbox as needed.
• Assist Development Department colleagues in donor engagement activities, including—but not limited to—writing thank you notes, making stewardship calls, and other activities as needed.
• Support the Development Department for special projects and events, as needed.
Skills and Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
• Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience with fundraising and gift processing with strong background in CRM or database administration
• Detail-oriented and highly organized with excellent time management skills
• Experience with Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams) required and Blackbaud products (Raiser’s Edge, NXT) strongly preferred
• Experience with Omatic software and/or GoFundMe Pro (formerly Classy) preferred
• Effective communication skills (oral and written) and a demonstrated ability to work well with others, as well as independently
• Comfortable with phone and email customer service interactions
• Willingness to travel (domestic), and work nights and weekends if and when needed
• Ability to lift and move supply boxes of up to 30 pounds during event preparation and execution
