Job Title: Case Worker
Program: Safe Homes Project, Good Shepherd Services)
Reports to: Site Director, Poetry House
Location: 503 5th Avenue, Brooklyn, NY
Hours: 35 hours/week; Non-exempt
Job Summary
The Case Worker provides comprehensive case management, counseling, advocacy, and self-sufficiency services to intimate partner domestic violence (IPDV) survivors and their children. This role also involves the implementation of a trauma-focused approach.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide in-person crisis intervention, case management, counseling, housing advocacy, and self-sufficiency support.
- Develop and implement trainings and workshops.
- Facilitate group.
- Participate in staff meetings.
- Manage the program hotline when assigned, providing information and referrals to survivors and service providers.
- Maintain accurate statistical and narrative documentation using agency databases.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related field required.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Experience in counseling and case management required.
- Knowledge of domestic violence, NYC housing issues, and self-sufficiency services is a plus.
- Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to take initiative, work independently and collaboratively, and manage pressure effectively.
- Availability to work at least one evening per week (until 8 PM or as needed).
- Commitment to a strength-based approach.
- *Available to work with Partner Agency, Family Justice Center (FJC) once a week at the Downtown location.
