Position Summary:

The Compliance & Regulatory Affairs Manager ensures the companys ongoing compliance with multistate, federal, and international laws and regulations. This includes obtaining and maintaining industry-specific licenses, registering the company to do business in new jurisdictions, ensuring sales tax and payroll tax compliance, meeting Paid Family Leave and other statutory obligations, and filing annual and other recurring reports. The role serves as the primary internal resource for researching and implementing new regulatory requirements and for maintaining existing compliance programs.


Essential Functions:

Licensing & Entity Management

  • Obtain, renew, and maintain industry-specific licenses, permits, and certifications across applicable jurisdictions.
  • Manage foreign qualifications and registrations for new states or countries.
  • Track and file annual reports, biennial statements, and other corporate maintenance filings to ensure good standing.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with regulators and licensing agencies.

Tax Compliance

  • Research and register for sales tax, use tax, payroll withholding, and local business taxes as required.
  • Partner with Finance, Payroll, and Legal to ensure timely and accurate compliance with local, state, federal, and international tax regulations.
  • Monitor and implement Paid Family Leave (PFL) and other statutory benefits programs where applicable.

Regulatory Research & Advisory

  • Maintain compliance calendars, tracking systems, and filing documentation for audit readiness.
  • Review regulatory changes and communicate new requirements to internal stakeholders.
  • Advise leadership on compliance risks and recommend mitigation strategies.



Physical and Mental Functions:

  • Maintain focus and independence in a remote or hybrid working environment.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Fine motor dexterity and ability to work from electronic devices.
  • Ability to research, analyze, and interpret complex regulatory materials.
  • Make timely decisions and apply established workflows.


Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelors degree in Business, Legal Studies, Accounting, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in multistate and/or international regulatory compliance.
  • Strong understanding of corporate entity management, licensing, sales tax, and payroll tax processes.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret legal and regulatory language and apply it to operations.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to interact with external regulators and internal teams.

Preferred:

  • Experience in a regulated industry such as security.
  • Familiarity with UCC filings, cross-border compliance, and corporate governance best practices.
  • Experience with compliance management software.
