Job Title: IT Specialist

Agency: NYS Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS)
Location: Hybrid – New York, NY 10027
Rate: Depends on experience
Position Overview:
This position supports the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) as part of the statewide HBITS initiative. The selected candidates will assist with the CONNECTIONS system, which supports child welfare services. Applicants must have mid-level expertise in providing user support and training, especially within large-scale systems. Key technical skills include Microsoft Office, Oracle SQL Developer, and familiarity with data entry compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Provide user support for the CONNECTIONS application through in-person, phone, and email communication
- Deliver one-on-one and small-group training to end users on system functionality
- Train users on new features and updates released in the CONNECTIONS system
- Present system and process guidance to frontline staff
- Monitor and ensure user compliance with required data entry standards
- Review and provide input on training materials
- Offer technical assistance related to the data warehouse used by CONNECTIONS
Qualifications:
- 3 years and 8 months of experience providing IT support in a Child Welfare environment
- 3 years and 8 months of experience providing implementation support services for new application builds in a child welfare environment
- 3 years and 8 months of experience providing on-site user support for a large-scale (15k+ users) distributed application
- 3 years and 8 months of experience working on a large-scale (15k+ users) rollout starting with a needs assessment, through production, and ending with ongoing support
- Bachelor’s Degree
