Member Service Representative (Bilingual Required)

Medix is hiring Member Service Representatives on behalf of a leading NYC-based managed care organization. Job Title: Member Service Representative
Location: New York, NY (95% remote; 1 week of onsite training; potential for 1-2 in-person meetings per year in Lower Manhattan)

Candidates must be local to New York City (or surrounding areas)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, shifts between 8 AM-8 PM with rotating weekends and holidays
Employment Type: Contract-to-hire through Medix (800 hours)
Pay: $20-$25/hour (weekly pay, sick time, benefits through Medix)
As a Member Service Representative, you will serve as the first point of contact for members and providers, helping resolve inquiries, scheduling services, and ensuring access to quality care. This is a fast-paced, call center environment that requires reliability, professionalism, and compassion.
Key Responsibilities

Handle inbound calls, emails, and live chats from members and providers (50-60 calls per day)

Assist members in accessing covered and non-covered services in line with plan of care

Support members with provider selection and appointment scheduling

Process authorizations and data entry under direction of Care Management staff

Educate members on plan benefits and available resources

Document interactions accurately in the system to meet quality standards

Participate in outreach projects such as new member orientation and care capture initiatives
Must-Have Qualifications

3+ years of customer service or healthcare call center experience (insurance experience is a plus)

High school diploma required; associate's degree strongly preferred

Bilingual fluency required in one of the following: Chinese (Cantonese or Mandarin), Korean, Bengali, or Creole

Reliable attendance and ability to work shifts between 8 AM-8 PM, including rotating weekends

Strong communication skills and ability to serve vulnerable populations (elderly, chronically ill)

Comfortable with Microsoft Word, data entry, and basic Excel functions
Schedule & Training

Training begins onsite (2 days corporate, followed by department-specific training and shadowing; roughly 1 week)

Shifts available: 8-4, 9-5, 10-6, 12-8

Rotating weekends and occasional holidays required
