POSITION: Senior Director of Advancement
REPORTS TO: Chief Advancement Officer
STATUS: Full-time, Exempt
RANGE: $160,000 - $165,000
Founded in 1901, Brooklyn Law School is a distinguished, independent law school located in Downtown Brooklyn, New York. The Law School is searching for a Senior Director of Advancement to join our team. The Law School’s size, vibrant employee and student population, and commitment to training the next generation of lawyers and promoting social justice, will offer a candidate the opportunity to develop and diversify practical skills and participate firsthand in operating a successful educational institution.
Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer, the Senior Director will serve in a leadership role within the Advancement Office and in many ways will serve as the deputy to the CAO. The Senior Director will oversee, guide, direct and evaluate the work of the annual giving, alumni engagement and advancement services teams. The Senior Director will provide thought leadership to the CAO and will provide vital leadership support partnering to help launch the first comprehensive campaign in Brooklyn Law School’s history.
Responsibilities include:
- Direct the Alumni Engagement, Annual Giving and Advancement Services teams. Provide strategic guidance, day-to-day direction and coaching.
- Establish performance metrics for the annual giving and alumni engagement teams that support campaign goals.
- Partnering with Advancement services, ensure the Salesforce CRM can support the reporting needs of the campaign, including but not limited to tracking performance metrics and forecasting fund raising goals.
- Serve as a thought partner to the CAO. Serving as the advancement point of contact when the CAO is traveling with the Dean and President.
- Support the proposal writing process. Develop a library of templates in preparation for the campaign.
- Volunteer management of existing alumni or donor groups such as the Women’s Leadership Network and Alumni Association Board and oversight of volunteer groups that are created to support the campaign.
- There may be a small portfolio of prospects that are related to the areas assigned.
Required:
- Five (5) to Seven (7) years of progressively responsible advancement experience
- Knowledge of higher education and fundraising strategies unique to the NYC market.
- Experience managing, mentoring and building collaborative teams
- A proven track record of setting, achieving, and exceeding fundraising goals, including closing six-figure and higher multi-year gifts
- Experience developing and launching a major capital campaign
- Familiarity with CRM donor database management systems, Salesforce preferred
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Proven track record of building genuine relationships with donors and colleagues
- Volunteer management experience
- A passion for the impact of philanthropy, self-motivated, entrepreneurial
Work environment
- The work will primarily be conducted in an office setting with occasional responsibilities in other areas of the campus, such as student residences, event spaces, and meeting rooms.
Remote capabilities
- This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule with an expectation of 4 days in the office per week.
Physical demands
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Periods standing outdoors in the heat or cold.
Travel
- Some travel, nights and weekend work may be required.
