Are you a visionary marketing leader ready to make a mark in publishing? Join Quarto US, a leading illustrated book publisher, as our Director of Marketing. In this executive role, you'll drive the overall marketing and publicity vision for our U.S. imprints—spanning both adult and children’s titles. You’ll lead a talented team, champion our authors and brands, and craft strategic campaigns that elevate discoverability, strengthen visibility, and grow book sales.

Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership

  • Develop and lead innovative, long-term marketing and publicity strategies across all U.S. imprints.

  • Champion seasonal frontlist titles from acquisition to post-launch, ensuring maximum exposure.

  • Direct our digital and physical marketing mix to drive engagement and reach new audiences.

  • Shape Quarto’s digital advertising and social media strategy with a focus on performance and growth.

  • Cultivate relationships with media, press, and influencers on a national and local scale.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Publishing, Sales, and International teams to align and elevate campaigns.

Team & People Management

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of marketers, publicists, copywriters, and digital experts.

  • Oversee the priorities and workflow of the U.S. marketing department, metadata, copywriting, and eBook teams.

  • Support team development through training, coaching, and career growth opportunities.

  • Manage freelancers and agencies to ensure consistent, high-quality deliverables.

  • Actively contribute to global leadership discussions and initiatives.

Financial Management

  • Own and manage the U.S. marketing and publicity budget.

  • Optimize spend and ROI across all campaigns.

  • Set and track KPIs; report on performance to senior leadership.

What We’re Looking For

Required Experience

  • 5+ years of senior-level experience in publishing with a strong marketing/publicity focus.

  • Proven track record of managing and scaling teams of 9 or more.

  • Expertise in budgeting, analytics, and performance-driven marketing.

  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills.

Preferred Attributes

  • A collaborative, inspiring leader with a coaching approach to team management.

  • Deep understanding of media and marketing trends in the publishing space.

  • Well-connected with U.S. media and influencers across genres.

  • Data-savvy and confident using marketing analytics tools to drive decisions.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Marketing, Communications, or Publishing focus preferred.
