About the Opportunity
Medix is looking for a high-performing Accounts Receivable Representative for an expanding, multi-specialty surgical practice in the White Plains area. This isn't a "data entry" billing role; we need a true collector who understands the nuances of surgical claims and out-of-network (OON) reimbursement.
This practice is welcoming new surgeons and needs an A/R pro who can hit the ground running, specifically someone who enjoys the "detective work" of resolving complex denials and fighting for accurate reimbursement.
The Day-to-Day

Surgical A/R Mastery: Handle the full lifecycle of out-of-network surgical and E&M claims.

Complex Denial Management: Analyze EOBs to determine why a claim was partially paid or denied (deductibles, co-insurance, contractual adjustments) and fix it.

Proactive Follow-up: Use insurance portals and direct phone communication to status claims and ensure they are moving toward payment.

Expert Appeals: Draft and submit surgical reconsiderations and appeals that get results.

Patient Financial Care: Address patient inquiries regarding balances and payment arrangements with a high level of professionalism.

Revenue Strategy: Collaborate with leadership to identify recurring A/R trends and solve root-cause billing issues.
What You Bring to the Table

Surgical Billing Foundation: You know CPT/ICD-10 codes and understand Fee Schedules and Usual & Customary (UCR) guidelines.

The "Hunter" Mentality: You don't just wait for claims to process; you actively chase outstanding balances until the account is resolved.

Technical Proficiency: Strong Excel skills and comfort navigating EMR systems (Experience with ModMed/EMA is a major plus).

Communication Skills: You can explain complex billing issues clearly to insurance reps, patients, and physicians alike.
The "Premium" Skill Set ($34/$35 per hour Range)
To reach the top of our pay range, we are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:

Extensive experience with Surgical Claims (Orthopedic, Spine, Neuro, etc.).

Deep knowledge of the Federal No Surprises Act (NSA).

Proven experience with the Independent Dispute Resolution (IDR) process and arbitration submissions.
