Corporate Work Study (CWS)


Reports To: Vice President, CWS

MISSION STATEMENT: Cristo Rey Brooklyn (CRB) is a Catholic high school partnering with families of all creeds to educate deserving young people from underserved communities to become men and women of faith, purpose, and service. By integrating a rigorous curriculum, a unique work-study experience, and the support of an inclusive school community, we enable students to succeed in college and beyond with the values essential to a fulfilling life.

JOB DESCRIPTION: In addition to being an academically rigorous high school, Cristo Rey Brooklyn (CRB) provides all students with a unique four-year, work study experience. Corporate Work Study (CWS) is an innovative, educational, and financial model that enables students to afford a private, college-preparatory education. Students earn their way through high school, while gaining invaluable work experience to better prepare them for college and the professional workforce. All CRB students attend classes four days per week and work one full day per week in entry-level positions at leading businesses, law firms, higher education institutions, and various civic, philanthropic, and governmental entities across New York City and beyond.

The Director of Operations works with the full Corporate Work Study Team to run a robust and efficient program for all constituents, including students and their families, CWS partners and sponsors, and the CRB community. The Director of Operations is detail-oriented, energetic, diligent, innovative, and instrumental in managing and coordinating activities of CWS, focused on client and student relations and day-to-day operations. This individual coordinates activities of CWS, including but not limited to: scheduling, management of student job training/retraining, remote and hybrid work, student transportation, client relations, and day-to-day operations for this unique program. The Director of Operations will have management responsibilities for two full-time staff members of the CWS team: the Operations and Relationship Manager, and the Operations and Curriculum Associate.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree from an accredited college with minimum 3-5 years of working experience
Experience working with Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite, with particular emphasis on Excel and mail merge capabilities
Organized, with particular attention to detail
Effective communication, public speaking, and presentation skills, with knowledge of business etiquette and protocol
Ability to support various stakeholders, be proactive, and work collaboratively in a team
Strong understanding and appreciation for the Cristo Rey mission

PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds, under resourced urban youth, students of high school age, and/or managing client relationships
Efficient in managing and following through on simultaneous tasks and projects
Strong technical skills in database management and/or experience with Salesforce
1-3 years supervisory or management experience
Understanding of how to develop a curriculum
Fluency in Spanish and/or Creole a plus

FUNCTIONAL DUTIES: Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Daily Operations - The Operations Team is responsible for client and student relations and day-to-day operations for this unique program that represents a core element of the schools overall college-prep curriculum. To support this, the Director of Operations will:
Manage two full-time employees
Coordinate job placements for students each year
Coordinate transportation to and from work sites and any CWS events
Manage team of CWS chaperones
Ensure possession and/or reimbursement of public transportation tickets including 2-swipe and express bus MetroCards, PATH Cards, LIRR, and Chaperone monthly MetroCards
Manage daily morning Send Off to track attendance, notify pertinent parties of student absences, and ensure safe and effective transportation from school to workplace for Student Associates, in conjunction with chaperones
Track and plan necessary make-up work days
Perform site visits at Work Study partners 2x per year
Handle all Student Associate emergencies
Assist tracking student progress and grades in Google Classroom and PowerSchool with support from Operations Team

Student Training and Development - CWS supports student worker development through a collaborative and relationship-focused approach. The CWS team encourages students to thrive in the workplace through our initial Summer Training Program for new students, daily morning send-off, and ongoing/reemployment as needed. These trainings and workshops refine and expand the skills and impact of our workforce for students during their four years at CRB. To support this, the Director of Operations will:

Support student professional development and programming both over the summer and throughout the school year for all students
Facilitate all aspects of three-week summer training program for new students
Mentor Student Associates in need of additional workplace support to address students areas of growth in meeting program expectations
Coordinate with VP of CWS, school Principal, and other designated academic staff as it relates to daily and programmatic integration of CWS with overall academic curriculum and school culture
Hold CWS Office Hours on a regular basis to support student success in the workplace and beyond
Address and enforce all CWS related school policies including discipline and dress code

Account Management - CWS staff service Corporate Work Study partners by professionally and proactively communicating with supervisors and company contacts. The Director of Operations will serve as a primary contact for assigned CWS accounts, providing them with information about the students, responding to inquiries, and troubleshooting as needed. To support this, the Director of Operations will:
Communicate regularly with supervisors and company contacts through email, telephone, and site visits to understand workplace environment and Student Associate responsibilities
Collaborate with supervisors to identify, address, and support areas of growth for Student Associates to help student excel in the workplace
Follow up on constructive time cards and evaluation comments with supervisors, students, and parents/guardians in a timely manner
Develop and execute new supervisor orientation and ongoing training
Ensure all procedural requirements are completed for Student Associates onboarding processes in a timely and accurate manner
Work jointly with Operations Team to develop and lead supervisor engagement, student development, and overall program initiatives from the workplace based on supervisor feedback, timecards, site visits, and performance evaluations
Strategize and help implement employer retention programs

Communication and Database Maintenance - The CWS communicates with a variety of stakeholders and requires database management to be clear, accurate, and up to date. To support this, the Director of Operations will:
Maintain up-to-date information in the CWS Operations Dashboard and the schools overall Client Relationship Management database (Salesforce)
Manage CWS Team email database
Ensure 100% completion of Student Associate Performance Review by supervisors for mid-year and end-of-year surveys
Develop content for CWS newsletters to supervisors, students and their families, and CRB faculty/staff updates and send on a regular basis
Assist the VP of CWS in developing and maintaining prospect and client management systems, reports, and presentations, as needed

Salary range for the role is: $65,000 $75,000. Actual salary is commensurate with experience and benchmarked with our peer Cristo Rey Network schools. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plan, and paid vacation.

This is a year-round (12-month) position, Monday through Friday on-site at CRBHS. Very occasional late and/or weekend work may be required.
