Job Description

Job DescriptionThe Information Technology Specialist is responsible for managing and supporting computer programs and systems that handle the most sensitive hospital information, including medical records and other patient information. This role requires a high level of expertise in maintaining the security, integrity, and efficiency of hospital IT systems. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience in this field and the ability to support the Manager of IT in all related duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • System Management: Oversee the maintenance and operation of hospital IT systems, ensuring they are secure, reliable, and efficient.
  • Data Security: Implement and enforce data security measures to protect sensitive patient information and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support for application and desktop issues, networking, and infrastructure support.
  • Project Involvement: Participate in IT projects involving networking, switches, routers, firewalls, and troubleshooting Linux/Unix, Windows server, cloud or other virtualization technologies, PBX/VOIP, and backup technologies.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Manager of IT to support all departmental goals and initiatives.
  • Training: Train hospital staff on the use of IT systems and best practices for data security.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of IT systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance IT service delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with hospital policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.


Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of five years of experience managing computer programs and systems dealing with sensitive hospital information, including medical records and other patient information.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CompTIA Security+) are a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, and enterprise applications.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on delivering practical and innovative solutions.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Customer Service: Strong customer service orientation, with a commitment to meeting the needs of internal and external clients.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing business needs and stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends.
  • Team Player: Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
