Job Description

Job Title: Program Coordinator – Access for Young Women (AFYW)
Location: Forest Hills, NY 11375
Department: Youth Services
Compensation: Starting at $34.34 hourly

About the Program

Access for Young Women (AFYW) is a leadership development program designed for female-identifying and gender-expansive youth ages 11–18. It’s a space where young people build self-esteem, improve academically, strengthen leadership skills, and deepen their understanding of gender equity—all while forming meaningful connections in a supportive group setting.

As the Program Coordinator, you’ll be at the center of it all—facilitating programming, mentoring staff and interns, and collaborating with QCH teams, funders, and community partners. Your work will empower participants to explore their passions, develop strong relationships, contribute to their communities, and graduate with real-world leadership experience that sets them up for success.

Your Impact

  • Lead Empowering Sessions: Facilitate engaging group activities that build confidence, social-emotional skills, and leadership abilities—creating a space where youth feel seen, supported, and inspired.

  • Mentor Future Professionals: Supervise and guide MSW/BSW interns through ethical, trauma-informed, youth-centered practice, shaping the next generation of social workers.

  • Create Memorable Opportunities: Organize events like career panels, youth leadership conferences, and college/career readiness workshops, giving participants valuable exposure to future pathways.

  • Build Strong Connections: Partner with schools, families, and funders to provide wraparound support that ensures every young person has the resources they need to thrive.

  • Ensure Program Excellence: Oversee compliance, data tracking, and budget management to keep programming effective, accountable, and youth-focused.

  • Be a Steady Presence: Respond to crises with care, using mediation and intervention skills to help youth navigate difficult moments.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field (with appropriate licensure such as LMSW). SIFI certification strongly preferred.

  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience working with youth, ideally in middle or high school settings.

  • Commitment to confidentiality, discretion, and ethical practice.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and Salesforce (or willingness to learn).

  • Must successfully complete NYS DOH Fingerprinting, PETS Clearance, three reference checks, a physical exam with updated TB test, and provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
