Job Description

Senior Engineering Lead, Trading and Portfolio Technology

Full time.

NYC

Role Overview

This is a senior leadership role for a software engineer who thrives at the intersection of technology, trading, and portfolio strategy. You'll join a collaborative team responsible for designing the systems that power real-time investment decisions, multi-asset trading, and advanced portfolio analytics. Engineers here work side by side with traders, quants, and portfolio managers to build tools that directly shape how capital is deployed.

This role combines hands-on development with strategic leadership. You’ll oversee everything from scalable infrastructure to front-end analytics, playing a key part in how systems evolve from idea to impact.

What You’ll Work On

  • Lead a team of engineers building platforms that support daily trading, portfolio management, and execution workflows.
  • Collaborate with researchers and traders to implement tools for analytics, risk, and automation.
  • Improve portfolio optimization processes and design software to support strategy evaluation and decision-making.
  • Develop scalable services for pre-trade and post-trade analysis.
  • Create robust APIs and user interfaces using tools like Python, React, or Node.
  • Maintain and improve real-time systems using messaging frameworks such as Kafka.
  • Build and promote engineering standards for testing, deployment, and code quality.
  • Drive clarity and delivery across technical projects in a high-stakes environment.

What You Bring

  • Fifteen or more years of engineering experience, including significant work within financial systems.
  • At least seven years working in trading technology, ideally across asset classes such as credit or fixed income.
  • Experience collaborating directly with portfolio managers, traders, and quants.
  • A history of delivering production-grade systems that support investment workflows.
  • Proficiency in full-stack development and experience leading end-to-end software efforts.
  • Strong command of Python and familiarity with modern JavaScript frameworks.
  • A practical approach to leadership, with the ability to balance strategy and execution.
  • Comfort working in fast-moving, ambiguous environments where speed and quality both matter.
