POSITION SUMMARY:
Oversees operations at the Orleans County YMCA branch, including member experience, programs, facilities, staff and volunteer development, financial development, and community relations and collaborations. Under the guidance of the CEO, this position oversees the development of staff, volunteers and coaches, manages the budget and operations for youth and adult programming.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Operations:
- Ensure all programs and member experiences comply with set standards and methods of operation.
- Develop, implement and deliver high-quality member experiences and safe programs with continual participation growth.
- Recruit for full participation in all programs, tournaments, camps and clinics.
- Integrate customer-service and engagement strategies into programs and member services to ensure retention and positive feedback/ratings.
- Learn and utilize customer service systems for accurate registration, schedules, communication, recruitment, and retention.
- Monitor and evaluate delivery and effectiveness of programs and staff for the highest possible level of quality.
- Be visible and accessible to all staff, volunteers, parents and participants during all programming, tournaments, and rentals.
- Respond to all members and community inquiries and concerns.
- Communicate program information and performance, changes and needs in a timely manner.
- Represent and promote the YMCA in the local community and develop positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental enti Develop, maintain, and model collaborative relationships with community agencies in the service delivery area.
- Child Abuse Prevention - Responsible for adhering to boundary policies, attending required training, reporting concerns, following mandated reporting policy, fulfilling job-specific responsibilities such as maintaining and securing unused areas, and ensuring proper sign-in/out procedures.
Staff Development:
- Recruit, hire, train, schedule and supervise childcare, special events, maintenance, program staff and volunteers.
- Develop strategies to provide support to staff, volunteers and officials for the achievement of program goals and retention.
- Review and evaluate the performance of staff, volunteers, and officials.
- Ensure staff fulfill all certification standards.
Fiscal Management:
- Develop and manage budgets to meet or exceed operational goals for facilities and programming. This includes generating increased revenue each season and for each event.
- Strong Community Campaign/Financial Development.
- Provide input, engagement and leadership for the Strong Community Campaign, special events and other fund development to ensure goals are met.
Facilities:
- Provide overall coordination of facility maintenance and cleanliness.
- Ensure the safety and maintenance of high-quality facilities, grounds and equipment.
- Maintain complete familiarity with all risk management procedures and policies.
- Maintain clean and safe conditions at all practice and game sites, report any irregularities to maintenance.
- Keep an up-to-date inventory on all equipment, materials and supplies.
- Manage preventative and annual maintenance plans and monitors expenditures against budget.
Other:
- Serving as a member of the branch leadership team performing specific duties that support the overall success of the Orleans branch operations.
- Attending applicable training and conferences to further professional development.
- All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, business, or a related field.
- Three or more years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
- Must have the ability to grow programming in the community.
- Work a schedule that reflects the needs of the branch, including evenings and weekends.
- CPR and First Aid certifications required within the first 60 days of employment.
- YMCA Leader certification preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to carry out all physical demands of the position.
- Must be able to routinely perform physical activities such as climbing stairs, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, reaching with hands, sitting and standing for extended periods of time, walking, lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds, having finger dexterity, grasping, performing repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity to perform detailed tasks.
- Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
