Position summary:
The Relationship Manager Developing Sectors is responsible for managing a broad range of relationships relevant to advancing our mission with certification programs currently developed or scaled up. The focus is initially on herbs, spices and nuts, but may shift depending on market development.
Building on the organization’s business development plans, the individual develops and implements sector-focused market strategies, translating those into key account plans for selected companies. The individual is also responsible for positioning Rainforest Alliance as a sustainability partner with organizations and platforms, working closely with regional relationship manager teams.
Responsibilities:
- Revenue Growth Responsible for delivering existing and new business from certification royalty or other fees in selected sectors. Supports relationship managers on reaching revenue goals, related to selected developing sectors;
- Sector-focused Market Strategy Leads development and implementation of growth strategies and market development plans, covering all Rainforest Alliance offerings, within goals set in the Corporate Engagement & Partnership plan;
- Obtains market intelligence and monitors developments for each sector to identify growth opportunities and risks; works across teams to build on opportunities and to manage risks (a.o. Advocacy, Communications, Regions)
- Key Accounts & Prospects Manages relationships with selected key customers to ensure ongoing customer satisfaction and loyalty;
- Develops and implements account strategies and implementation plans; investigates opportunities for further collaboration and proactively addresses sector and supply chain risks;
- Works across relevant teams and configures product-and-services solutions with associated contractual terms that meet customer needs;
- Internal Collaboration Leads cross-departmental conversations on selected themes relevant to the success of the organization’s products;
- Positioning RA in market Develops network of key contacts with accounts, organizations and platforms relevant to the sector, to promote the organization and enhance its reputation; represents the organization at events and platforms;
- Other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Business Economics, International Development, Sustainability, Communications or related;
- Experience in global supply chain management for food & agriculture and/or sustainability sector
- 5-7 years of experience in stakeholder relations, developing and implementing market or sector development plans
- Proven experience establishing and maintaining successful account relationships within corporate and/or non-profit sector;
- Team player; Strategic and analytical thinker; Strong communication and relationship management skills;
- Business fluency in English. German, Spanish or Arabic language skills a plus;
- Willingness & ability to travel 10-15% of time;

National Salary range (Excluding NY and DC) - $63,655 - $90,906

New York Salary Range - $75,605 - $108,007

Washington DC Salary Range - $73,180 - $104,542
