We are a well-established, union-affiliated carpentry company serving high-end commercial projects throughout New York City. Our team is known for professionalism, craftsmanship, and reliability. We're currently seeking a multi-skilled, dependable individual to join our team as a Warehouse Manager / Handyman / Backup Driver. This is a hybrid role essential to the day-to-day operations of our company.
Position Overview:
This full-time role combines warehouse management, light maintenance/handyman work, opportunity to prefabricate building materials and occasional driving duties. The ideal candidate is highly organized, familiar with carpentry-related tools/materials, and comfortable navigating NYC in a commercial vehicle.
Responsibilities:
Warehouse Management (Primary Role):
- Oversee organization, inventory, and cleanliness of warehouse and storage areas
- Track incoming/outgoing materials, tools, and equipment
- Prepare and stage materials for job sites
- Coordinate deliveries and pickups with Operations Department, Field Superintendent and Foreman
- Maintain tool check-out/check-in system
- Receive, inspect, and store deliveries
Handyman Duties (As Needed):
- Perform light repairs and maintenance at company facilities or job sites
- Assist carpenters with tool repair or small projects
- Ensure shop equipment is in safe working order
Backup Driving (Occasional):
- Operate company van/box truck for material and equipment deliveries
- Fill in for primary driver during absences
- Navigate efficiently and safely through NYC’s five boroughs
- Maintain clean driving record and DOT compliance
Requirements:
- Prior experience in a similar role (warehouse, maintenance, or construction industry preferred)
- Valid NY driver’s license with clean driving record (CDL not required)
- Strong knowledge of carpentry tools and materials
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical tasks as needed
- Familiarity with basic handyman tools and safety protocols
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Punctual, dependable, and team-oriented
Preferred Qualifications:
- Forklift certification
- Familiarity with NYC building supply vendors and routes
