Position Summary
TCC Group is currently in expansion mode and therefore researching and developing new ways to build on our current assets and move us to the next stage in our organizational life cycle. In our efforts towards this, we are seeking a seasoned senior leader with deep social sector consulting experience and an entrepreneurial mind and skillset to join our firm.
TCC Group provides strategy services to private independent foundations, corporate foundations, family foundations and nonprofit 501c-3 public charities. In collaboration with organizational leaders, the Philanthropy Strategist will lead and build teams to develop and offer existing and new strategy offerings (e.g., strategic planning, foundation policy, philanthropy sector building/strengthening) that address current and emerging needs in the social sector.
In this role, the new hire will support the expansion of our work with foundations as well as our strategy consulting with nonprofit organizations by leveraging their experience and deep connections. TCC Group has offices in New York City and Philadelphia. Ideally, this position will be based in the New York office.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Philanthropy Strategist is a full-time employee whose primary responsibility is building and managing the Firm’s strategy work with Philanthropies and Nonprofit Organizations. This includes refining and updating a vision for the Firm’s Strategy services, including desired social impact, priority audiences, capacity needs, and growth trajectory, in coordination with leaders at the Firm.
- Expanding the client base for philanthropy and nonprofit strategy engagements by identifying prospective clients, drafting proposals, and leading prospective client meetings and negotiations.
- Leading Client Engagements including overseeing, developing, monitoring and deep involvement in all aspects of the consulting assignment, project work plans and budgets.
- Developing an annual Service Operating Plan and ensuring strategies are implemented and goals are met.
- Supervising, mentoring, and investing in the growth of TCC staff members.
- Collaborating on the development and marketing of strategy products, tools, and associated services through business plan development, market testing, and ongoing assessment and improvement.
- Participating in firm-wide thought leadership and business development opportunities.
- Representing the Firm by speaking on panels at conferences and serving on committees of infrastructure organizations and professional networks.
- Generating positive attention for the Firm by serving as a "thought leader" in the field by publishing papers, articles, blogs, and disseminating knowledge.
- Playing a key leadership role in the development and implementation of TCC Group marketing strategies, specifically related to social sector organizations.
Qualifications and Experience
A commitment to the mission and role of the social sector in American society and a passion for building a unique service.
- A minimum of 15 years working in the social sector and/or consulting, working with funders, non-profits, and other social sector entities.
- A minimum of five years in a management role with proven success in organizational and team leadership.
- A strong professional network in the social sector, with demonstrated success at leveraging that network to increase an organization’s visibility.
- An experienced "thought leader" with a proven track record of developing, designing, and delivering effective strategy content (for workshops, conferences, articles, etc.) and services to the social sector.
- Demonstrated intellectual curiosity, creativity, strategic thinking, and a strong desire and capacity to work with a wide variety of clients and situations.
- A skilled communicator and public speaker with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- A dynamic team leader/ who is well versed in building/rebuilding teams, delegation, prioritization/reprioritization, and effective conflict resolution.
- A commitment to the Firm's growth, excellence, and its inspired work force.
Salary
The estimated salary range for this position is $150,000 to $190,000, with the potential for an annual bonus. We welcome an open discussion with all interested candidates about the full compensation package.
