Position Summary:

We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Finance Manager to oversee our team of Property Accountants and manage the financial operations of a personal portfolio of residential properties. This individual will play a key leadership role, ensuring financial accuracy, timely reporting, and compliance across the portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Oversight & Leadership:

  • Supervise and mentor a team of Property Accountants, providing training, support, and performance evaluations.
  • Review and approve monthly financial packages prepared by team members before submission to clients.
  • Establish and maintain accounting procedures and best practices to ensure consistency and accuracy.

Portfolio Financial Management:

  • Directly manage the financials for a designated portfolio of properties (co-ops, condos).
  • Prepare monthly financial reports including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Review and reconcile bank accounts, general ledgers, and supporting schedules.
  • Manage annual budgets, forecast cash flow needs, and monitor actual performance against budget.
  • Collaborate with property managers and clients to address financial concerns, answer inquiries, and support operational decisions.

Compliance & Reporting:

  • Ensure timely preparation and submission of year-end audit and tax documents.
  • Liaise with external auditors and tax professionals as needed.
  • Stay current on applicable city, state, and federal regulations impacting financial operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or MBA is a plus.
  • 5+ years of property management accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of NYC real estate financial operations, including co-ops, condos, and multifamily properties.
  • Proficient in property management/accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, RealPage) and Excel.
  • Exceptional analytical skills, attention to detail, and organizational abilities.
  • Effective communicator with a client service mindset and a collaborative approach.
