Job DescriptionSenior Logistics and Purchasing Analyst - Agriculture Sector



Job Summary

The Senior Logistics and Purchasing Analyst is responsible for managing procurement operations and optimizing logistics processes to ensure cost-effective and timely delivery of goods to VMA customers. This role ensures efficient sourcing, inventory control, and transportation of goods while supporting sustainability and cost-effectiveness across the agricultural supply chain.



Key Responsibilities

Agricultural Logistics

  • Manage end-to-end logistics for agricultural products, including raw materials and finished goods.
  • Develop and implement logistics plans, procedures, and performance metrics
  • Coordinate with commercial team, growers, distributors, and third-party logistics providers
  • Address disruptions and implement contingency plans to maintain product flow
  • Monitor weather, harvest cycles, and market conditions to adjust logistics plans
  • Ensure compliance with hazardous material and customs regulations



Purchasing

  • Source agricultural inputs from domestic and international suppliers
  • Negotiate contracts and maintain strong vendor relationships
  • Analyze market trends, commodity pricing, and seasonal demand
  • Monitor inventory levels and forecast purchasing needs
  • Collaborate with Finance teams for reporting and compliance



Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Develop KPI dashboards and reports for senior management
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements



Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in agricultural logistics and procurement
  • Hazardous material shipping certification
  • Strong relationship building, problem solving, and negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Proficiency in Sage Intacct or other ERP software, Excel, and data visualization tools
  • Knowledge of agricultural cycles, sustainability practices, and regulatory compliance



Preferred Attributes

  • Experience with international sourcing and export logistics
  • Certifications such as CPSM, CPIM, or PMP
