Title: Manager – Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting
Employment Type: Full-Time
Location: Farmington Hills, MI (Preferred) - Open to Remote


First Look- Manager, Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting

As a key member of the Corporate Accounting team, the Manager of Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting will be a direct report to the Senior Director, Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting. This person will be working closely with the Principal Financial Officer to ensure accurate and timely accounting and reporting of financial results. The Manager of Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting will manage enterprise-wide accounting, reporting, and internal control. They help to manage the implementation of the organization’s accounting policies and procedures, including systems, financial close, and analysis. As such, this role will have responsibility for ensuring that all financial and accounting systems adhere to internal and external regulatory requirements while interfacing with external auditors.

The Arena Group’s expected annualized base salary range for this position is currently $95,000-150,000. Actual salaries will vary based on multiple factors including, but not limited to location, education, experience and other factors permitted by law. The listed salary range is but one component of The Arena Group’s total compensation and benefits available to its employees.

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage the financial reporting process, ensuring timely submission and upload of financial statement and MD&A schedules into Workiva

  • Prepare quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements, including Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow, Statement of Changes in Equity, related footnotes, and MD&A

  • Maintain and ensure the accuracy of SEC reporting files in Workiva

  • Confirm financial statement compliance with US GAAP

  • Monitor post-closing adjustments

  • Assist in the coordination of quarterly review and annual audit with external auditors

  • Coordinate with various accounting resources to obtain support for external financial statements

  • Develop and implement SOX compliant accounting policies, practices, and procedures

  • Assist with routine and ad hoc technical accounting projects

What You’ll Bring:


  • Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in accounting

  • Strong US GAAP accounting knowledge

  • Experience with accounting and reporting systems

  • Big 4, regional or national accounting firm experience and industry experience is preferred

  • CPA license is preferred

  • Ability to manage workflow and work efficiently to meet tight deadlines

  • High level of analytical ability

  • Strong communication skills

  • Self-starting initiative and innovative attitude

  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with all levels of personnel within the company
