Job Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled Senior Programmer to join our HEOR team and work closely with our Principal Data Scientist. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the design, execution, and analysis of real-world evidence studies using large healthcare datasets. The ideal candidate brings strong programming expertise and a passion for leveraging data to inform research and business decisions.
Location: Hybrid in our New York City office or remote on the East Coast, USA.
Reports to: Principal Data Scientist.
Roles and responsibilities
(Include but are not limited to):
- Partner with HEOR, medical, clinical development, and commercial teams to design and execute RWE studies supporting Compass Pathways' research and business objectives
- Develop, validate, and maintain reproducible code for data processing, cohort identification, outcome measurement, and statistical analysis using healthcare claims and EMR data, ensuring adherence to protocols and statistical analysis plans
- Generate high-quality tables, figures, and visualizations for internal and external reports, regulatory submissions, presentations, and publications
- Conduct rigorous quality assurance, peer code review, and validation of programming deliverables to ensure accuracy and reproducibility
- Perform exploratory and ad-hoc analyses to address urgent business or scientific questions, communicating findings to diverse stakeholders
- Assess EHR and claims data sources from healthcare organizations to determine their fitness for addressing specific research questions
- Develop interactive dashboards and data visualizations (e.g., using R Shiny, Tableau, or Power BI) to support data-driven decision-making
- Stay abreast of advances in RWD methodology, programming tools, and therapeutic area knowledge relevant to Compass Pathways' portfolio
- Collaborate with external partners, academic institutions, and data vendors as needed
Candidate Profile:
- Master's degree or higher in biostatistics, epidemiology, data science, biomedical/health/clinical informatics, health economics and outcomes research, or related quantitative field
- Considerable experience programming and analyzing large healthcare datasets (e.g., Optum, Marketscan, Medicare, EMR/EHR data) in a biotech, pharmaceutical, or healthcare consulting environment
- Advanced proficiency in statistical programming languages and data manipulation tools, including SQL, R, and/or Python
- Experience working with healthcare coding systems (ICD, CPT, NDC, etc.) and resolving data quality issues in large, complex, and incomplete datasets
- Demonstrated experience with advanced analytical methods (e.g., regression models, survival analysis, propensity score matching) is preferred
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced, agile environment
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex analyses into actionable insights
- Experience with data visualization and dashboarding tools (R Shiny, Tableau, Power BI) is highly desirable
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset
【For NYC】Compensation Description (annually):
Please note that the base salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.
Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognise employees for their work and any role at Compass, regardless of the location, is eligible for additional discretionary bonuses and equity.
