Job Description
Octiv is seeking a bold, entrepreneurial commercial leader to serve as Senior Director, Strategic Partnerships, responsible for driving and expanding our partnership business. In this critical leadership role, you will shape Octiv's commercial strategy, operating model, and long-term vision while owning the full lifecycle of our most important partner relationships—from sourcing and structuring deals to execution and long-term success. You will develop Octiv's market presence and partner engagement strategy, build mindshare and drive adoption across key verticals, and serve as the primary point of contact for partners, ensuring seamless collaboration and strategic alignment. This is a rare opportunity to shape the vision of an exciting technology that will underpin the next generation of healthcare technologies, from brain-computer interfaces and surgical robotics to advanced therapeutics and beyond.

The ideal candidate will possess a business background that enables them to drive an engagement and interact at the executive level, and should also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about the mission, product, and technical challenges, with the ability to build and convey compelling value propositions.
This person will maintain strong relationships with Octiv's partners, proactively managing engagement roadmaps, follow-ups, and strategic alignment. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, emotional intelligence (EQ), and the ability to manage multiple high-touch partnerships simultaneously.
As part of our team, your core responsibilities will be:
- Commercial Revenue Growth:
- Drive revenue for the Octiv business unit including identifying and strategically pursuing partnerships with top tier healthcare and / or technology partners who offer step-change growth opportunities to penetrate strategic verticals (e.g. government, defense, consumer, etc etc)
- Generate and negotiate deal term sheets through to execution of contracts for new collaborations which have been reviewed with the cross functional executive team approval.
- Partner Relationship Management
- Serve as the main liaison for Octiv's partners, ensuring clear communication and seamless collaboration.
- Understand both Octiv and your partner's pain points and challenges so you can participate in cross-functional work streams with Product, Engineering, and Product Marketing to influence the product roadmap
- Secure c-level support internally and externally in support of deal commitments, goals, and tradeoffs.
- Engagement Tracking:
- Create and maintain a structured system for tracking partners, their stage of engagement, next steps, and responsibilities.
- Anticipate potential partner needs upon implementation and surface ideas for help with problem solving.
Qualifications
- Baseline skills/experiences/attributes:
- 8-12 years experience
- 5+ years experience in an external, client-facing, deal-oriented role.
- Quantitative, commercial, and financial fluency.
- Ability to think holistically through commercial opportunities and synthesize complex problems into simple next steps and tradeoffs.
- Tenacity - we are changing healthcare and the semiconductor industry, and you are in it for a multi-year haul.
- Ability to speak to different functional stakeholders and build cross functional support with Commercial, Product, Legal, and Clinical counterparts.
- You are a hunter with a track record taking deals with Fortune 500 companies from prospect through implementation, including business case creation.
- Experience creating business to business partnerships from hunting, to close, and through execution
- You know how to creatively scale solutions with varying levels of resources.
- Excellent communication skills: Ability to interface effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders..
- Data-driven & process-oriented: Strong ability to track, organize, and analyze engagement roadmaps.
Ideally, you also have these skills/experiences/attributes (but it's ok if you don't!):
- You've been in a high growth, early-stage company - you are comfortable with part of your job being to 'build the company' and also rolling up your sleeves.
- Experience working in regulated industries: Understanding of regulatory pathways in medical devices, biotech, or similarly complex industries
- MBA or prior consulting experience is a plus.

Location
Butterfly offers a hybrid work model for most positions, with team members spending two or more days a week in the office. While flexibility is key, we value in-person connections that spark creativity and teamwork. Our offices are designed for collaboration, with comfortable workspaces, stocked kitchens, and opportunities to connect with peers.
This is a hybrid position that can be based in New York City, NY or Bay Area, CA (initially remote - with plans for hybrid in the future)

Compensation
Our estimated salary for this role is between $220,000 - $250,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Actual pay is determined by multiple factors such as skills, qualifications, experience and market demand.
For this role, we are only considering candidates who are legally authorized to work in the United States and who do not now or in the future require sponsorship for employment visa status.
