Position Summary
The Inventory Coordinator (Manufacturing) is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory levels, managing cycle counts and physical inventories, coordinating procurement activities for the Safety Division, and ensuring optimal inventory management of raw materials, finished products, and manufacturing equipment parts. This role requires strong inventory management expertise with supporting procurement capabilities to maintain seamless manufacturing operations.

Essential Functions

Inventory Management (Primary Focus)

Maintain inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts, bin checks, and scheduled physical inventoriesInvestigate and resolve inventory discrepancies using root cause analysisReconcile inventory discrepancies in the ERP systemPerform inventory transactions including scrap adjustments, transfers, and movementsMonitor inventory levels for raw materials, work-in-process, finished goods, and machinery partsImplement and maintain inventory control procedures to minimize shrinkage and obsolescenceTrack and report on slow-moving and excess inventory itemsCoordinate with production teams to ensure adequate inventory levels for manufacturing schedules
Procurement Support Activities

Source and purchase raw materials, manufacturing supplies, and replacement partsProcess and track purchase orders through company systemsResolve procurement discrepancies and coordinate with vendors on delivery issuesMaintain vendor documentation and ensure compliance with quality standardsSupport material requirements planning in collaboration with supervisors
Records Management & Reporting

Create and maintain comprehensive digital records of all inventory transactionsDocument inventory adjustments, cycle count results, and discrepancy investigationsUpdate inventory records as materials are received and issuedGenerate regular inventory status reports for management reviewMaintain historical inventory data for trend analysis and forecastingTrack inventory transaction points and identify process improvement opportunities
Coordination & Communication

Communicate with stakeholders across the manufacturing plant regarding inventory statusCoordinate just-in-time manufacturing processes to optimize inventory levelsInform production, sales, and shipping teams about material availabilityAlert management to inventory shortages, excess stock, or significant cost fluctuationsParticipate in cross-functional meetings to coordinate manufacturing and inventory activitiesSupport capacity planning processes to align inventory with production capabilities
Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements

No degree required5+ years of inventory management experience in manufacturing environmentsExperience with procurement activities preferred but not required
Required Skills

Strong proficiency in inventory management software and ERP systemsAdvanced skills in Microsoft Office suite, particularly ExcelExceptional attention to detail and organizational skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving capabilitiesExcellent verbal and written communication abilitiesAbility to perform accurate mathematical calculationsExperience with cycle counting methodologies and inventory control proceduresAbility to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Preferred Qualifications

Experience in infrastructure, construction materials, or safety product manufacturingKnowledge of ISO 9001:2015 quality management systemsCertification in inventory management (APICS, CPIM) or supply chain management (CSCP, CPSM)Experience with Lean manufacturing principles and just-in-time inventory practicesFamiliarity with material requirements planning (MRP) systems
Physical Requirements

Ability to work at a computer workstation for extended periodsRegular walking through manufacturing and warehouse areas to conduct inventory countsAbility to lift and move items up to 50 pounds (raw materials, finished products)Ability to climb ladders and access elevated storage areas safelyComfortable working in manufacturing environment with machinery noise and activity
