Director of Payroll Operations
Location: Farmingdale, NY (On-site)
Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary Range: $120,000 – $150,000

What You’ll Do:
1. Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute the long-term vision for payroll operations.
- Partner with HR, Accounting, Business Intelligence, and IT to streamline systems and workflows.
- Lead special projects, payroll system upgrades, and integration initiatives.
2. Payroll Operations Management
- Oversee all aspects of in-house payroll for multi-state, union and non-union employees.
- Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations (including 940, 941, NYS-45, MTA, etc.).
- Manage payroll tax filings, W-2s, and union reporting requirements.
3. Process Improvement & Compliance
- Continuously analyze payroll processes to drive efficiency, automation, and risk mitigation.
- Lead labor compliance, certified payroll, and manage audits (union, workers' comp).
- Utilize systems such as LCP Tracker, Elation, and Vista Viewpoint.
4. Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor a high-performing payroll team.
- Set clear goals, promote professional growth, and foster a culture of excellence.
5. Cross-Functional Partnership
- Provide insights and payroll analytics to executive teams.
- Collaborate on workforce cost reporting and dashboards with Business Intelligence.
- Ensure alignment of payroll with broader HR and finance goals.
What You Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- 10+ years of hands-on payroll experience.
- Proven experience in construction payroll, with both union and non-union employees.
- Deep knowledge of multi-state payroll and compliance standards.
- Experience with Vista Viewpoint strongly preferred.
- Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
