Position Title: Railroad Program Support - Track, Emerging Talent Intern

Hourly Rate: $19.00 (Undergraduate)

OVERVIEW OF DEPARTMENT:

Railroad Program Support is responsible for managing the scope, schedule, quality, and safety of LIRR In-House Force Account crafts and projects. Our department goal is to manage critical infrastructure assets to maintain operating conditions which include safety, reliability, efficiency, longevity, and customer service.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in creating, updating, and organizing project documents such as plans, reports, and meeting minutes.
  • Help facilitate communication by scheduling meetings and sending out updates.
  • Assist in creating and updating project timelines, tracking milestones, and managing deadlines.
  • Assist with tracking resource allocation and identifying potential resource conflicts.
  • Support the project team with risk management by identifying potential risks and assist in developing mitigation strategies.
  • Assist with tasks related to quality control, ensuring they meet standards, and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Assist in tracking progress of projects and reporting on their status.
  • Organize project folders and assist with other administrative duties as needed.

PROJECTS:

  • 2025 Annual Track Program - Replacing and upgrading deteriorating track components along LIRR infrastructure
  • 2025 Concrete Tie Program - Replacing deteriorating wood times with concrete ties along LIRR infrastructure
  • West Side Yard - 1st Phase - replacement of DF plates and 2nd phase replacement of concrete walkways at West Side Yard

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a must.

The candidate should possess organizational, analytical and communication skills.

The candidate should be able to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.

The candidate should have a keen eye for detail and be able to work independently while being an active team player.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

Matriculated in an undergraduate program in good standing with at least 2.5 GPA AND/OR matriculated in a graduate program in good standing with at least 2.8 GPA

Major(s) Preferred: Engineering, Finance or Business Administration
