Supervisor: Emerging Programs Manager

Status: Full-time – Non Exempt

Location: Montgomery, NY

Qualifications: Associates degree or two years related work experience. Strong speaking and interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational ability and strong administrative skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize accordingly. Strong skills required in Microsoft Word and Excel. Strong supervision skills required. Demonstrated commitment to the Food Bank's mission. A valid NYS driver's license. The incumbent will be required to regularly work a schedule including nights and weekends, as distributions occur.

Position Summary: Responsible for the management daily implementation of all aspects of direct delivery programs aimed at increasing equitable service to underserved communities. The Emerging Programs Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient operation of the Regional Food Banks's community-based food distributions. This role requires strong interdepartmental collaboration and the ability to work with external partners in representing the Food Bank. Engaging with people from diverse backgrounds will be essential in building strong external relationships and driving positive change.

Physical Requirements: This position works in a typical office setting but may be exposed to extreme temperatures in a warehouse setting and at distribution sites. There may be extended periods of sitting, standing and/or bending, listening, talking and/or visual concentration, writing and/or computer use. This position would normally have routine opportunities for the employee to be able to alter their physical position or change eye focus. The position requires driving a cargo van, and daily lifting and stacking boxes weighing up to 50 pounds.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Emerging Programs:

  1. Bring a fresh perspective to enhance the current program, ensuring it effectively engages a diverse range of community members and raises awareness.
  2. Foster innovative ideas to improve and expand the drive-through delivery process.
  3. Act as a community liaison, building and nurturing relationships with local community members.
  4. Actively recruiting, managing, and engaging volunteers across various locations using communication platforms to maintain volunteer engagement.
  5. In conjunction with the volunteer services department, organization and deployment of cross county volunteers.
  6. Align capacity-building efforts with the Regional Food Bank's strategic goals and plans.
  7. Ensure diverse community groups are aware of and can access the program's services.
  8. Monitor program performance, identifying areas for growth and implementing strategies to meet evolving community needs.
  9. Actively engage with the community, serving as a representative of the Regional Food Bank.
  10. Support all Emerging Programs outside partners as needed by providing in-person and remote technical assistance.
  11. In conjunction with program leadership, develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum for community partners focused on large-scale food distribution across the 23 counties served by the Regional Food Bank.
  12. Attend and support partners at various distribution events, including evenings and weekends as needed, while providing technical assistance.
  13. Work cross departmentally to achieve desired outcomes and goals.
  14. Follow equitable targeted plan to communicate and problem solve procurement of priority push items to specific agencies based on needs, demographic, distribution schedule and other factors.
  15. Provide courteous and respectful services to neighbors, maintaining confidentiality and dignity at all times

  1. Works independently and collaboratively in a team environment and with other employees and departments. Develops and maintains a deep understanding of our employees and the culture in support of the mission of the Food Bank.
  2. Maintains a clean and safe workspace.
  3. Follows all safety standards and procedures.
  4. Adheres to the Food Bank's Employee Code of Conduct.
  5. Works nights and weekends as needed.
  6. Performs other duties as assigned.
