Job DescriptionEast End Studios is seeking an experienced and motivated Stage Manager to oversee the day-to- day management of our production spaces, ensuring smooth operations, effective coordination, and exceptional client service. As the primary point of contact between clients and internal staff, the Stage Manager will play a key role in maintaining an organized and high-performing studio environment. This individual must be highly skilled in production workflows, equipment management, and client relations, while thriving in a fast-paced, high-pressure setting.
This role will be based at EES Sunnyside.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Studio Management:
1.Oversee the daily operations of studio spaces, ensuring they are clean, organized, and fully functional.
2.Manage studio schedules and coordinate with clients, production teams, and internal staff to meet their needs.
3.Monitor and maintain the condition of studio equipment, including checking in, tracking, and checking out gear.
4.Ensure all equipment is properly set up and fully operational before client use, including managing basic distribution power when required.
5.Handle cable runs for distribution (distro) and manage associated technical requirements as needed.
6.Ensure production needs are met, including grip, lighting, and other studio supplies, maintaining an efficient workflow.
Client Relations:
7.Serve as the primary point of contact for clients on production days, managing any requests or concerns in a professional and timely manner.
8.Ensure smooth communication between clients and the internal operations team to meet production requirements.
9.Coordinate with the production team to ensure studio needs align with client expectations.
10.Maintain a high level of customer service, fostering a professional and welcoming atmosphere for clients.
Event Production Support:
11.Support event coordination and production logistics, including set-up and breakdown for various events.
12.Collaborate with event teams to ensure the seamless execution of live events and productions.
13.Handle any last-minute changes or needs that arise during events to keep everything running smoothly.
Operational & Logistical Coordination:
14.Manage and update studio logs to track client requirements, equipment usage, and production schedules.
15.Maintain detailed and accurate records for every shift, ensuring a smooth transition between shifts.
16.Work closely with the Equipment Manager to ensure all gear is accounted for and properly maintained.
17.Ensure all facility systems and resources are functioning properly to support the production process.
Problem Solving & Troubleshooting:
18.Quickly identify issues related to equipment, distribution systems, or production requirements and address them efficiently.
19.Utilize problem-solving skills to maintain smooth operations and resolve technical issues in a timely manner.
Safety & Compliance:
20.Ensure all safety protocols are followed, including handling equipment safely and maintaining a clean working environment.
21.Be proactive in identifying and resolving potential safety hazards or operational issues.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Experience:
•At least 3 years of experience in a studio management or stage management role.
•Extensive knowledge of grip, lighting, production supplies, and communications.
•Event production experience is required.
•Experience in managing equipment check-ins, check-outs, and handling ongoing client equipment needs.
•Basic understanding of production power and distribution systems, with the ability to operate basic distro packages when necessary.
•Familiarity with photo production, grid operations, and heavy equipment operations is a plus.
Technical Skills:
•Proficiency in managing and operating studio gear, including lighting, grip, and photo equipment.
•Clear understanding of studio and production workflows and processes.
•Ability to operate heavy equipment and troubleshoot minor technical issues.
•Experience with cable runs for distribution (distro) and familiarity with related technical processes.
Communication & Organization:
•Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and effectively to clients, staff, and vendors.
•Strong organizational skills, with the ability to track and maintain equipment logs, production schedules, and client requirements.
•Ability to maintain a calm, professional demeanor in high-pressure situations and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Education & Certifications:
•High School Diploma or equivalent required; a degree in a related field is a plus.
•Heavy equipment operation certifications or training preferred.
•Experience with rental systems such as RT Pro or similar is a plus.
Additional Requirements:
•Ability to lift heavy equipment and move production materials as needed (up to 50 lbs).
•Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by production schedules and events.
•A positive and proactive attitude, with a focus on client satisfaction and studio operations efficiency.
