The Innocence Project works to free the innocent, prevent wrongful convictions, and create fair, compassionate, and equitable systems of justice for everyone. Our work is guided by science and grounded in anti-racism. Since our inception, the Innocence Project has used DNA and other scientific advancements to prove wrongful conviction. To date, we have helped to free or exonerate more than 200 people who, collectively, spent more than 3,600 years behind bars. Our efforts have led to the passage of more than 200 transformative state laws and federal reforms. ABOUT THE POSITION
Throughout the history of this country, racial bias and discrimination has played an arbitrary and pernicious role in the administration of the criminal legal system and contributed to the problem of wrongful conviction. Two-thirds of the 239 people released or exonerated by the Innocence Project are people of color and 58% are Black. According to the National Registry of Exonerations, Black people comprise 47% of all known exonerations since 1989, even though they make up just 13% of the U.S. population. Furthermore, Black people are seven times more likely to be wrongfully convicted of murder than white people; a Black person convicted of sexual assault is 3.5 times more likely to be innocent than a white person convicted of such a crime; and innocent Black people are 12 times more likely to be wrongfully convicted of drug possession than innocent white people. The work of the Innocence Project has uncovered racial (and other) bias in prosecution, policing, indigent defense, and forensic science.
To further advance the mission of the Innocence Project, the Special Advisor on Race and Wrongful Conviction will serve as an advisor, thought leader, expert and in-house resource on racial justice, equity, bias and discrimination and its impact on the functioning of the criminal legal system and, particularly, wrongful conviction. The Special Advisor on Race and Wrongful Conviction will set the vision for this work and will collaborate with the Innocence Project staff to ensure that the substantive work of the organization is consistently guided, informed, and supported by rigorous historical, academic, forensic and social science research and scholarship, legal decisions, and policies/practices that explain, expose, ameliorate and ultimately eliminate racial bias as a factor in criminal legal system decision making. Thus, for example, the Special Advisor on Race and Wrongful Conviction will advise on methods to help ensure that the Innocence Project's intake procedures surface cases where racism may have contributed to the wrongful conviction of an innocent person, that litigation strategies take into account the latest law and science on racial bias and discrimination, that our social work policies and practices are informed by the unique challenges posed by discrimination and unconscious bias and that our policy work and education campaigns contribute to dismantling systemic racism. 
The Special Advisor on Race and Wrongful Conviction will support and advise all Departments, including the program teams, but will not play an active role in litigation or policy advocacy campaigns. SUMMARY:
As an OR Surgical Tech, you are crucial in the efficiency and overall success of operations. You will assist the surgical team by acting as the primary scrub tech who handles the instruments, supplies and equipment during surgical procedures, ensuring sterilization at every point of the process.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
<ul>

Must maintain at least 15 hours of Continuing Medical Education (CME) per year.
</li>
<li>
Checks supplies, instrumentation, and equipment needed for surgical procedures and ensures proper operation.
</li>
<li>
Provide a sterile field for surgical procedures. Ensures that the members of the surgical team are properly attired and assists the surgeon with draping the patient to isolate the operative site.
</li>
<li>
Assists in the maintenance of the sterile field by applying principles of aseptic techniques and informing the surgeon/surgical team of infractions.
</li>
<li>
Passes instruments and supplies to the surgeon.
</li>
<li>
Counts sponges and sharps with the RN prior to the surgery and before the incision is closed.
</li>
<li>
Prepares the sterile dressing for the patient’s incision.
</li>
<li>
Stocks rooms, may handle meds, sharps and syringes on the OR field
</li>

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
<ul>
<li>
Completed a military surgical technology program -OR- Certified Surgical Technologist certification through National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTS) and degree in Surgical Technology required -OR- Grand-Fathering Clause - Provide evidence he or she was employed as a surgical technologist in a healthcare facility for a cumulative period of one year, occurring between 12/31/10 – 12/31/14. -OR- Hard to Fill Clause - A health care facility may employ or otherwise contract with a person who does not meet the requirements of the function of a surgical technologist if they are unable to employ or contract a sufficient number of qualified surgical technologists.
</li>
<li>
Certified Surgical Technologist certification through National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) required within 24 months after employment and degree from accredited program required.
</li>
<li>
Surgical Technologist Certification is not required for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) with current licensure in the State of New York
</li>

SUMMARY:
As a CT Technologist, your ability to empathize with patients, specialized technical skills, and dedication to quality, greatly enhances the overall success of imaging and the department as a whole.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Patient Care - Responsible for radiography of patients, including CT scans and Interventional CT guided procedures; provide on-call coverage for CT section of Radiology; follow up on patient care issues/needs.
· Documentation - Maintain accountability for proper documentation of exams and procedures; document performance of studies in patient charts.
· Daily Maintenance - Assist with day-to-day supervision of the CT team; clean, restock and prepare rooms.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Two year college degree in Radiologic Technologist in Applied Science or equivalent.
· NYS license in Radiologic Technology (or) must hold NYS permit and obtain licensure within six months of employment.
· American Registry of Radiologic Technologist Certification (ARRT-R) within six months of employment.
· Effective 7/16/2018 - NYS Injection Certification within six months of employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Prior Radiologic Technologist experience preferred.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and ability to work in various software applications preferred.
