Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This position seeks a dedicated Teacher specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students, serving Kindergarten through 2nd grade in the Syracuse, NY area. The role focuses on providing instruction and support to approximately 10 students who are emergent municators and include those with autism. This contract position spans the full school year and offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact within an elementary school setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored educational programs for DHH students in grades K-2, adapting strategies to meet individual munication needs.
- Collaborate with support staff, families, and specialists to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Implement assistive technology and language development techniques appropriate for students with diverse learning profiles.
- Monitor student progress and provide ongoing assessments to guide instruction.
- Foster a positive, nurturing classroom atmosphere that encourages student engagement and growth.
Desired Qualifications:
- Certification and experience as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
- Proven ability to work effectively with young children, especially those on the autism spectrum and emergent municators.
- Strong munication and collaboration skills.
- Knowledge of current educational approaches and assistive technologies for DHH students.
